Enrolment in rural Nepal is high, but attendance falls away sharply after grade eight. The reason is rarely a lack of interest in school — it is fees, uniforms, long walks and the pull of household income.

Working with school management committees, we identify the students most likely to leave and cover annual fees, textbooks and uniforms. Alongside that, we train local teachers to run reading rooms and after-school sessions.

Every student's progress is reviewed each term with their parents and teachers. The commitment is not a cheque and a handshake — it is staying with a student until they finish.

What it delivers

  • Annual scholarships for students in grades 6 to 12
  • Libraries and reading rooms in 18 schools
  • Yearly teaching-skills training for local teachers
